In dem Dokumentarfilm beschreibt Natascha Kampusch in ihren eigenen Worten die Zeit ihrer achteinhalbjährigen Gefangenschaft. Zum ersten Mal zeigt ein Film Bilder aus dem Haus des Täters, zeigt die beklemmende bürgerliche Vorortwelt des Wolfgang Priklopil, in der er sein Opfer länger als acht Jahre gefangen hielt. Das Wohnzimmer des Täters mit Sofagarnitur und akkurat platziertem Nippes und Marmortisch. Bedrückende Bilder zeigen das Kellerverlies, in dem Natascha Kampusch eingekerkert war, der Zugang dreifach gesichert und schallisoliert hinter schweren Türen und dicken Wänden.

Die Dokumentation beginnt mit dem Tag der Entführung. Nataschas Mutter, Brigitta Sirny, schildert den Morgen des 2. März 1998. Natascha beschreibt, wie sie auf dem Weg zur Schule von einem Mann auf dem Gehweg in einen Lieferwagen gezerrt wird. Wenig später startet die Polizei eine große Suchaktion nach dem Mädchen, die zur umfangreichsten Vermisstensuche der Kriminalgeschichte Österreichs wird.

Natascha Kampusch gewährt den Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauern Einblicke in das Leben während ihrer achteinhalbjährigen Gefangenschaft und berichtet auch von Demütigungen durch ihren Entführer. Trotzdem, so sagt die junge Frau heute, habe sie Wolfgang Priklopil immer wieder verziehen. Sonst wären die langen Jahre der Gefangenschaft für sie noch weniger auszuhalten gewesen.
